536. PRIMARIA SBS. Show and Tell: Building Confidence and Communication Skills

Cosa succede quando i bambini portano in classe il giocattolo più prezioso che hanno? Molto più di quanto si possa immaginare. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Durante le lezioni di Literacy, i bambini della Year 2 SBS hanno portato da casa il loro giocattolo preferito e lo hanno presentato ai compagni, spiegando perché è speciale e rispondendo alle loro domande.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

The Year 2 SBS children took part in an engaging Show and Tell activity as part of their Literacy lessons. Each of them brought their favourite toy from home and had the opportunity to present it to their classmates, explaining why it was special and answering questions from the class.

The classroom was filled with excitement, and every presentation gave the children the chance to celebrate their individuality while learning more about one another. Young children learn best through meaningful opportunities to speak. Show and Tell encourages students to organise their ideas, speak in complete sentences, describe objects clearly, and expand their vocabulary. Speaking in front of classmates can feel challenging at first, but it helps to build confidence and improve self-esteem. Children become more independent, more confident, and proud of their own voice. They also learn to answer questions and listen respectfully to others. Sharing meaningful items from home allows children to express themselves while helping classmates learn more about one another. This builds empathy, a sense of belonging, and a positive classroom community.

As their Literacy teacher, I believe Show and Tell is more than just a speaking activity. It provides valuable insight into each child’s personality, interests, language development, and confidence level, allowing me to support them individually while celebrating their unique experiences. I also believe it is a highly significant activity for young learners, as it supports many essential areas of development in a natural and enjoyable way. I am incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, bravery, and respect the children demonstrated throughout this activity.

Show and Tell continues to be a simple yet powerful way to help young learners grow into confident speakers, thoughtful listeners, and caring classmates.
