The colour of the sky, the sound of a dog barking, the scent of a rose, the taste of chocolate cake, the feel of a cool breeze-everything that we know about the world comes to us through our five senses.

Humans gather information about their environment through the use of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. Each of the five senses responds to specific stimuli in the world around us, and each uses a unique part of the body to take in information.

What would happen to our senses if we were blindfolded? When visual input is removed, the brain compensates by directing more attention to the remaining senses. Our Y1 students were asked to determine what different mystery objects they had in their hands without using their sense of sight. The main objective of this activity was to use clues from their other senses-smell, hearing, taste, touch to try and guess what the objects were before the time ran out!

Blindfold games for kids are a fantastic way to enhance their sensory perception, spatial awareness, and critical thinking skills, all while having a lot of fun!

These interactive activities provide a unique experience that encourages children to rely on their other senses, such as touch, hearing, taste and smell, to navigate the world around them.
